A Letter From Alys
Dearest Families,
We hope you’ve been witnessing the swift progress being made each day on our beautiful new community creation! We are celebrating! It’s happening! We are blooming!
This is manifestation! The ultimate Project-Based Learning opportunity!
Our students are literally building their school, expanding community, witnessing dreams unfold into reality.
Since our inception, students have been collaboratively co-creating their community. Just in the last few years they’ve designed and built geodesic dome structures, built their chicken coop and pig pen, created our solar food dehydrator and biophilac playground, tended their gardens, as well as coordinated multiple fundraising events, social gatherings, art galleries, theater productions and community outreach projects.
The cumulative and aligned energy of our children, teachers, families, and community has nourished our growth forward so beautifully, from the very beginning.
For 2 years, we’ve been integrating community development even deeper into our elementary and secondary education. Our oldest students have participated in the envisioning, master planning, design, research, fundraising, and now the actual construction of their physical learning space. They are participating in a truly revolutionary real-world learning experience, leaving a lasting legacy for all children to come.
We are giddy with gratitude to witness new spaces being birthed.
The expansion of our physical space will afford us many new learning spaces for 2024 and beyond, including:
A transitional “home base” for our expanding Upper Years team. Younger children will grow into this space in 2025
A music studio and meditation/reading lounge
An art studio, MakerSpace, & Project-based learning workshop
A Literacy & Research center with library & computer lab
A communal courtyard & dining lounge
A fully equipped fitness & movement studio (previous art studio)
bathrooms with shared access to pool.
This creation allows us to more comfortably accommodate the 92 children we have currently enrolled for 2024.
This creation allows us to eventually welcome more aligned families like you, who are eager to join as soon as we can comfortably open new classes.
This creation allows us to provide a more expansive venue for our after-school classes, offering access to the wider local community.
This co-creation fortifies our unity as a community, an opportunity to come together to sustain our collective vision.
Through this collaborative learning experience our children are witnessing the valuable lesson that creative, sacred visions often take time to unfold. Our master vision plan was born from wild & daringly ambitious ideas. The “too good to be true” kind of dreams.. Yet we have all committed to moving forward- planning, dreaming, collaborating, giving, and speaking as if it was, and now it IS, it is actually becoming...
And as our dream is still becoming, we continue to need support to ensure actualization of this project. We are calling on our communities near and far to support this project. Please spread the word and support our campaign!
We can achieve big things with collaboration, trust, patience, and leading with integrity. This is certainly my most profound affirmation of 2023.
