Global Citizenship

Welcome to the Life Project Blog Space

We intend this to be a place where we can provide you a window into the process and happenings here at Life Project Education. Here we are providing our students the practical and empowering education designed to cultivate a future aligned with our community values. Children from preschool through high school simultaneously explore seasonal learning  themes catered to their unique developmental stage. Bringing in local and international educators, our students are exposed to a variety of different teaching styles, methodologies, and subjects that drive deeper studies. We are proud to get to share the story and lessons of Life Project Education with you.

Community Core Values

Our calendar is structured into a series of 8-12 week quarters. The theme of each quarter reflects one of our enduring Community Core Values. Our team of experienced educators co-create age- appropriate lesson plans across subjects, cultivating a multidimensional learning experience for our students.

Our Core Values are:

Community Development, where we are cultivating community leadership, intention setting, collaboration, and reflection.

Earth Guardianship, where we focus our attention on being good stewards of our environment.

Global Citizenship, where we bring awareness and deeper meaning to our anthropological & social studies.

 GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

September began a new quarter and with it the beginning of our Global Citizenship themed studies. Our intention is to teach  through both microscopic and macroscopic perspectives, empowering our young Global Citizens. This integrative learning approach is intended to cultivate the Community Leaders, Earth Guardians, and Global Citizens of tomorrow.

As a community, all students are exploring  the histories and dynamic cultures of Costa Rica, our home countries, our ancestors, and beyond. With children enrolled from all over the world, our global citizen unit is an ideal platform to unfold our blossoming worldviews. Learning in community, and about communities nurtures appreciation for the diversity within their classrooms, neighborhoods, countries, and planet.

We celebrate the vibrant learning journey our teachers are weaving. Our older children are publishing a multi-cultural children’s book with Alys and researching their family lineage with Becky. Multi-cultural fairy tales and mythology are being explored through literature and theater with Jackie & Rachel. As bi- literacy is critical in cultivating global citizenship, our team of Spanish educators continue to prioritize building fluency to confidently communicate and connect across cultures. Our young artists are excitedly exploring   multi-cultural art techniques with Hazel, and Geography skills are being reinforced schoolwide.

In addition to honoring Michaelmas and Martinmas, traditionally celebrated in anthroposophical education, we honor cultural celebrations such as  Dia De Los Muertos, Halloween, Diwali, Samhain, and national holidays such as Costa Rican Independence Day. December is traditionally devoted to multicultural holiday celebration, culminating with our annual candlelit Solstice spiral walk.

This is an ideal season to cultivate multi-cultural appreciation, fortify awareness of self, and invite   unity and oneness.

This is an ideal season to bring community together.

Together we are learning that Global Citizens  are deeply connected to their own  histories and backgrounds. We are learning they are aware of the cultural contexts of others. We are learning they are active in their home, school, and local communities.  We are learning they are curious and compassionate about all life & beings sharing this planet.
